Hi PaulI haven't tested ours alongside theirs so can only tell you about oursWe manufacture in the UK using materials supplied by UK companiesThe cover material is coated to withstand UV, rotting from bird poo, mould etc and is guaranteed for 5 years however it is difficult to transpose that guarantee to a cover as it is possible that if it isn't fitted correctly it could be left flapping in the wind, left with water pooling etc all of which will shorten it's life expectancy.I will say that in my experience when correctly looked after covers will last longer than 5 yearsOur covers come with a care and fitting guide along with a spare buckle.The PVC material is totally waterproof (water may seep in through seems though) and it doesn't shrink or loose it's colour.We all sail at Trident and use our products and like to think we are making the best product for the jobI hope that is of useDavid

Hi SueIt sounds like you either have a polycotton cover or a cheep made in the east one, I have known both to shrink.I can confirm that our covers will not shrink in either pvc or hydroguard.Our Laser cover is very well thought out with enough room to cope with spars, sails, different rigs etc underneath and also fits well without them.There is a cut out for the bow fairlead so you can tie the boat down and a cut around the gudgeon so you can fit a lighting board with the cover on.There is also a loop hanging off the transom designed to go through the aft strap and give some longitudinal tension to the cover.I hope that helpsDavid

Hi FredrikThe quick answer is I don't know sorry, I have tried two online converters but the answers don't look right.That said the thickness of the cover is a less important consideration to other factors like the coating on the fabric as well as the fit. Our fabric has a coating which is guaranteed for 5 years against UV and bird poo degradation however it's difficult to transpose this guarantee into a boat cover as there are so many variables, like the fit and if the fit isn't right it's life can be shortened considerably. As the original question was about weight of fabric I'll explain a little to our choice of pvc fabrics. We have a heavy duty fabric which we used for larger boats and a lighter fabric that we have used for probably over 30 years now and it's a slightly lighter weight than most (you wouldn't notice unless you had it and another in both hands) and this fabric typically out lasts all fabrics we know, being light it is easy to use and stow.The only time I might change to a heavier material is for club boats but that's another conversation of pro's and cons' HydroGuard is a revelation for breathable boat covers having historically used Polycotton, Weathermax and Acrylic which have their places and strengths but HydroGuard beats them all for dinghy covers You can see more info about materials in our customer service section on the far right tab at the top of our website or use the below linkhttps://www.tridentuk.com/gb/kbase/which-boat-cover-for-you-and-your-boat.html I hope that helpsDavid

Hi Tim We could make one for an additional £50 but what are you going to do with the sail? It won't wrap around the mast because of the battens. You will also make the boat vulnerable in any wind with the mast sticking up Regards David
