Hi RichardThe bow transom is a 5mm ply which is the same as the rest of the boat.The bow heart glues onto the ply on the outside of the boat and the forestay plate fixes to the inside. Generally this is fitted with self tappers through the ply and into the hardwood bow heart.I hope that helpsDavid
